Personality —
Please EITHER (1) Summarize your character's personality — including motivations, behaviors, and psychology — in 300-600 words OR (2) Respond to the questions below.

  • What were your character's most formative experiences?: Growing up in a small town in Kentucky, joining the military at 18, falling out of contact with his father, being recruited to Special Forces, leaving the military and working for private military contractors, being recruited by crime lord Damien Moreau as a hitman/enforcer, leaving Moreau’s employ, meeting Toby Heath and learning to cook, becoming a retrieval specialist, joining the Leverage team and finding a family.

  • What values, morals, and/or philosophies does your character live by, and how are those beliefs demonstrated? What happens when they have to compromise what they believe in?
Eliot Spencer is a man who knows he is damned. He fell into a spiral of doing worse and worse things, first for his country, then for money. He has a fairly strict moral code, but spent a long time knowingly breaking it. It is only in the past few years that he has seen himself as someone capable of change, much less redemption. His loyalty to the people he cares for is the thing that is most likely to cause him to compromise his morals, and he is very aware of that. The few ethical lines he has not broken, he holds very closely and believes in very strongly (ie: "you don't con your own crew").

  • What is your character afraid of? How does avoiding or preventing these fears influence their actions and decisions? Eliot is most afraid of himself and what he is capable of doing in the service of others. He knows that he is a devoted person. The time he spent working for Moreau showed him that he is capable of terrible things when asked to do so by those he’s loyal to. After leaving Moreau he spent years working alone with no loyalty to anyone but whichever client was paying him for a job.

In addition, he’s always terrified of failing the people he loves. It’s his job to put himself in between his team and outside threats. He “takes the punishment so they don’t have to”. He sees himself as a shield, and failing in that role is one of his greatest fears.

  • What goals does your character have right now? What do they want, and how do they go about getting it? Right now Eliot is trying to figure out what “settling” means to him. After two members of the Leverage Team left, it’s only him and his two closest friends, Hardison and Parker. As Hardison and Parker develop their relationship, Eliot is trying to figure out how he fits in that dynamic.

  • Gameplay —
Areas of Interest / Brainstorming: I want Eliot to put down roots and start mentoring other people. He works very well with kids and could be a great role model. I also want to explore how he would operate in an environment that is less hostile (aka a universe where he isn’t an actively wanted criminal, at least for now).
